About This Spot

China Garden is a quietly unassuming spot tucked away on McClellandtown Road in Masontown, where the hum of everyday life mellows into a gentle, welcoming pause. Walking in, you might first notice the simplicity — an intimate space that feels lived-in, as if it’s been patiently waiting for the neighborhood to discover its quiet charm. The pace inside is unhurried, with the soft clinks from the takeout counter and the low murmur of familiar voices blending into a comforting backdrop.

This is a place where kindness quietly infuses the air. It’s less about rushing a meal and more about the small human moments that happen between kitchen and counter, between guests who might be stopping by after a long day and the folks behind the register who remember their names. There’s a gentle reassurance here, a feeling that you’re more than just an order number but part of a small, ongoing story.

The food, often taken home but sometimes enjoyed on a modest set of tables, carries a freshness that speaks to care and tradition. The kitchen turns out flavors that feel rooted in familiar comforts, each bite unfolding with crisp textures or tender warmth — the kind of meals that settle quietly and satisfyingly, without fuss or fanfare. While it is known for being primarily takeout-friendly, the space invites those who want to linger just a little longer, sharing a moment over familiar tastes.

China Garden’s modest exterior and simple charm aren’t meant to dazzle at first glance but gradually reveal a place where sincerity is the main ingredient. It’s a go-to for those who appreciate genuine connection, a dependable flavor in the rhythm of everyday life, and a kindhearted welcome that leaves its own lasting impression.

Overall food is good except for the spring rolls and egg rolls. I think this is the only time I have ever thrown food away from takeout service. The rolls were so oily and greasy. When I took them out of their little bag oil literally poured out of it, all over my hands. I squeezed out the rolls with paper towels but ended up not eating them. Horrible.

Pleasntly delighted. We have lived in the area for 10 years and never new this place existed. The food and service was wonderful and the restaurant was clean. Will definitely be back again

This place is owned by some of the most kind people. I was a few short one time and they still fed me. I came again and left a nice tip. Foods good too.

Very good! Food is fresh, crisp. Fried rice has great flavor. Pictured is General Tsos and Fried Rice.

It's my favorite place in Fayette County to get Chinese food. It's just a little hole in the wall restaurant. It's not a place to sit down and eat, although you can if you want to. It's mostly a take-out place. The food is always so good and the prices aren't too high. I couldn't recommend them more!

We stopped by for dinner to go after a long day. We received a recommendation by a family member since we are new to the are. We ordered, general tsos combination, crab Rangoon and roast pork chow fun. Everything was hot and fresh. My only complaint is they advertise chow fun aka ho fun but what I received was mei fun (rice vermicelli). We will be ordering again, but I wanted to warn anyone else who was craving chow fun and the wide noodles it comes with.
